The Marine Corps has purchased two all-electric trucks as part of its effort to become more sustainable, according to a press release.
The Smith Electric medium trucks have a top speed of 55 MPH and can go as far as 120 miles on a single charge. The trucks can also carry up to 16,000 pounds.
The trucks will be delivered to Camp Pendleton, Calif., by February, 2011.
This is all part of an effort to reduce its energy use 30 percent by 2015 and increase its reliance on renewable electrical energy to 25 percent by 2025.

Why is it a waste of tax dollars? or do you just want to keep burning all of our fuel resources?
From this article in the Wall Street Journal:

where Staples is replacing diesel trucks in their fleet with electric trucks comes this quote:
Staples expects to save nearly $60,000 over the 10-year life of an electric truck over a diesel model.
This is a waste of our tax dollars how?
Hmm it looks like your blog ate my first comment (it was super long) so I guess I’ll just sum it up what I had written and say, I’m thoroughly enjoying your blog. I too am an aspiring blogger but I’m still new to the whole thing. Do you have any helpful tips for inexperienced blog writers? I’d certainly appreciate it.
