Federal Times will be streaming the video of President Obama’s announcement on the two-year pay freeze for federal employees at 11:35 a.m. We’ve embedded the video below, and also at this link.
In the meantime, we’d like to hear what you think. Are you angry that you won’t be getting a pay raise for two years? Or do you think it’s a necessary sacrifice given the dire financial state the nation is in?

You know I am not angry about the pay freeze if we could still be promoted and also received the step increase on a yearly basis, what I am most concern with is the cost of the insurance plan increases, or they going to be frozen? Will the higher paid going to feel the effect, will the middle class alway be the one who get kick or will someday do we see the good. There have been a deficit for many of year and the reason it is bigger now is because it cost more to live and we spend money unwisely. Yes we are in debt in a big way but we are not going to fix it if we keep taken from those who have made this country what it is today.
I am angry. The cause of the debt is 2 unpaid for wars, a medicare prescription plan that wasn’t paid for, and a 1.3 trillion dollar tax cut during 2 wars. That is the spending that needs cut. Put a war tax on like in Korea and Vietnam to pay for the expenditures. I work in a federal prison and I am supposed to take a pay freeze (along with my co-workers) so millionaires can get a tax cut? What a bunch of garbage.
As long as we still get step increases then I have no problem with it. However, I want to know how this will effect the contractors for the government? There are contrators that to the same job as federal employees that make 2-3 time as much as us? If they take away our step increase too that will cause a problem. The Federal government is the largest employer in the county. If they cut our wages then who is left to spend money to help the economy?
