Gwenne Campbell

Since 9/11, I am more aware of my surroundings — of packages or bags that appear abandoned, of people acting suspiciously, of drivers on the expressway. I review my telephone messages and mail for possible threats to the government.

Now, to enter my workplace, I must go through a check of the underside of my car and sometimes the trunk and car pockets. I must always have a badge with me. While we still train in conflict resolution and combating workplace violence, it is the sessions on continuity planning after a disaster and cybersecurity that get the attention today.

Campbell is executive director, Atlanta Federal Executive Board.
